Brian invited me onto his show yesterday and we had a great time for a little more than 10 minutes talking about the Packers just before the team started their OTAs.

On the agenda for discussion were the topics of James Starks and Mason Crosby and what their futures with the Packers looked like; which training camp position battles should be the most compelling to watch; which rookie will be the most fun to watch; and just for good measure because his name alway comes up in discussion, we talked a bit about Brett Favre and when the Packers will look at bringing him back to retire his number and honor him as a member of the Packers family.

Frankly, I’ll talk Packers with just about anyone who will listen, so when Brian invited me onto his show, I was not only honored, but really excited to talk with a live person about the team we all know and love.

And you can probably tell through the podcast that this was a great opportunity not only to plug this website, but to hang out and talk Packers.

Jackson, who voided his contract yesterday with the St. Louis Rams, is no free to sign with any team he wants -and he can do it before Tuesday’s official start to the Free Agency period.

Not only does Jackson immediately agree with King’s assertion that he must go to Green Bay, but he goes on to talk about his strong relationship with Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

While Jackson would be an incredible addition to a pathetic Packers backfield, there is no indication, at least at this point, that the Packers brass have shown any interest in securing the services of one of the best running backs in the game today.

Yesterday, we here at Lombardiave.com speculated on who would be the better back for the Packers – Jackson or former New York Giant Ahmad Bradshaw. We concluded that Bradshaw because of his age, might be the better way to go.

However, it might be time to reconsider, especially in light of Jackson’s interest in playing for Green Bay. Bradshaw has, up to this time, expressed no interest in playing for the Packers.

So, what do you think Packers fans? Would Jackson be the man in Green Bay?

Derick E. Hingle-US PRESSWIRE

An interesting post and tweet at CheeseheadTV.com about the Packers entertaining a visit from defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove (as first reported by NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora), has me as confused as Brian Carriveau, the article’s author.

While the Packers are indeed now in a defensive mindset mode after the signing of center Jeff Saturday, it’s still sort of mind-boggling that the Packers would even entertain the thought of bringing Hargrove to Green Bay. His checkered past is not unlike that of a Brandon Marshall or even a Randy Moss. Many run-ins with the law sprinkle his career, including being a member of the New Orleans Saints during its bounty-filled days.

Considering a player with this type of history goes against the Packers’ way of doing things, unless Hargrove has had a significant turnaround in his personal life, I can’t see the team signing him.

And it’s not only his personal issues that are of concern, as Carriveau points out. He’s on the small side as a defensive lineman at about 275 pounds. Unless the Packers would experiment by placing him at an outside linebacker position, he doesn’t really fit the mold as a down lineman.

Check out Carriveau’s piece on this rather bizarre consideration by the Packers.

Given what I’ve read about this guy, the Packers should probably stay as far away as possible … but maybe Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy know more than we do.

Remember: In Ted We Trust. Right?

Nick Hill in action with the Orlando Predators

If you’ve been a fan of the Green Bay Packers for the past 20 years, you know there has not been a shortage of quarterbacks who have come through Titletown – quarterbacks who haven’t been named Brett or Aaron.

You can go back to the days when Favre was in his first season with the Packers and trace a line right up until today’s Packer unit. There have always been quality quarterbacks in the Packers organization. They haven’t always play. No, in fact, most of them have sat. You can start with Favre himself who initially sat behind Don Majkowski. You can add to the list Kurt Warner, Ty Detmer, Mark Brunell, TJ Rubley, Jim McMahon, Doug Pederson, Steve Bono, Matt Hasselbeck, Aaron Brooks, Aaron Rodgers and Craig Nall.

All of them weren’t all-pros, but they were decent players in their own rights.

Now that it looks like the Packers organization is going to lose another quality backup in Matt Flynn, the team is left with just two on the roster – Rodgers and Graham Harrell.

Enter a guy by the name of Nick Hill.
