It’s annoying, but it’s a “we-know-more-than-you-do” type of annoyance as the Green Bay Packers are getting no respect from the sports world’s mainstream media … and you know what? I love it.

Last night, a browse across some of the biggest sports websites on the Internet found only one listing mentioning the Packers on their home pages – that was the NBC Sports site.

The other major sites, including Sports Illustrated, CBS Sports, ESPN, Yahoo, and The Sporting News, had nothing about the Packers – the same team that beat the Tennessee Titans by 48 points Sunday. The shellacking of the Titans may not have been big news because the Titans aren’t exactly one of the best teams in the league, but neither are the Browns, the Cowboys, the Giants and the Panthers – they all received mention on several pages.

It’s not such a bad thing flying under the radar. As the Falcons, Seahawks, the Cowboys, Redskins, Colts, Ravens, Broncos get the headlines, nobody’s watching the Packers as they continue to improve week-to-week.

Consider the Packers’ defense that has shown so much improvement just in the past couple of weeks with the comeback by Clay Matthews – heck, they haven’t allowed a team more than 20 points since getting beat up by the Giants a few weeks ago. Consider also the direction the Packers have gone since that humiliating loss to the Giants. While the G-Men continue to garner headlines across the mainstream media while losing, the Packers have silently thumped everyone in their way.
