About a month ago, I wrote a column right here that the Packers had been locked out of the White House and that it didn’t seem fair the league hadn’t given the team special dispensation to gather together for their rightfully earned trip to Washington D.C.

After all, it had been the Packers’ rallying cry at the end of last season.

Packers reporters tweeted within the last few minutes that Packers president Mark Murphy had been in touch with White House officials and it looks like the Packers could meet with President Barack Obama sometime in August.

That’s great news not only for Packers players, but for all football plans.

Lori Nickel had the following tweet that was similar to several others:

RT @packers #Packers have been in contact w/White House. Looking at August for visit. Murphy looks forward to Woodson, Obama shaking hands

We look forward to that day, too.

The Green Bay Packers won Super Bowl XLV over 70 days ago. The Super Bowl “high” we felt has continued on and doesn’t appear to be dying down anytime soon.

There has been a lot of talk about the upcoming draft.. speculation of who Ted’s first round pick will be (psst… OL, please), and a whole lot of previously disgruntled Packers fans’ admission of the true genius that we have now come to love. It’s amazing what a Super Bowl win will do to send a singular person’s stock to rise sky high.

As we continue to have hopes for an agreement between the NFL owners and Players Association, waiting for news, shaking our heads in disbelief that they have STILL not been able to come to terms.. I’m starting to feel a little disgruntled myself. Not with the team and not with the fans.. but there are a few outstanding celebrations that have been put on hold for months now.

When are we going to see our team make the dutiful trip to Washington DC to meet with the President? When are we going to get to see the diamond encrusted, gaudy, but rightfully earned Super Bowl ring.. and where is the Twitter-controversy-fed Super Bowl Team photo? (more…)
