Across the Internet and in your daily papers, folks are talking about mock drafts, team needs, trades, signings and so much more.</p>
<p>With that said, we take <a href="http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/14/sunday-morning-one-liners-181/" target="_blank">profootballtalk.com&#8217;s &#8220;Sunday morning one-liners&#8221;</a> and provide our own spin on whatever the issue may be. We try to be funny, but we&#8217;ll leave the chuckle factor up to you. We realize that we can&#8217;t always be so serious &#8230; if you want that, click on over to the mainstream media guys. They love talking X&#8217;s and O&#8217;s and do a great job at it.</p>
<p>Here, we like to have our tongue firmly implanted in our cheeks from time-to-time and this is one of those times.</p>
<p>Let us know what you think by leaving a comment below &#8211; keep it clean, though, or we may have to come find you &#8230; (yes, we&#8217;re kidding). You can also like our <a href="http://www.facebook.com/apackphan" target="_blank">Facebook</a> page and follow us on <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/lombardiave" target="_blank">Twitter</a> at any time.</p>
<p>So, here we go &#8230;</p>
<h2><a href="http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/14/sunday-morning-one-liners-181/" rel="bookmark">Sunday morning one-liners</a></h2>
<p>Will the Bills move <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5869/arthur-moats">Arthur Moats</a> <a href="http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2013/04/12/fan-friday-4-12/">to inside linebacker</a> this offseason?</p>
<p><em><strong>Who knows &#8230; and who cares?</strong></em></p>
<p>A look at the history of trades <a href="http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/04/14/3342623/armando-salguero-draft-day-jockeying.html">up and down</a> the draft board for the Dolphins.</p>
<p><em><strong>Now, this is interesting, but will it affect the Dolphins&#8217; draft board this year?</strong></em></p>
<div id="attachment_16858" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/5932290.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-16858" title="NFL: NFC Championship-New York Giants at San Francisco 49ers" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/5932290-e1365954471332-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Jake Ballard<br />Jason O. Watson-USA TODAY Sports</p></div>
<p>The Patriots will <a href="http://bostonherald.com/sports/patriots_nfl/new_england_patriots/2013/04/ballard_of_the_backup_te">continue to bring</a> TE Jake Ballard along slowly.</p>
<p><em><strong>Well, who in their right mind would want to bring him along quickly?</strong></em></p>
<p>Gary Myers of the <em>New York Daily News</em> doesn’t think the Jets <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/myers-jets-giving-rex-splitting-headache-article-1.1315861?localLinksEnabled=false">will draft a quarterback</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>What? I didn&#8217;t think the Jets had any quarterbacks.</strong></em></p>
<p>The Ravens website doesn’t believe the team <a href="http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Eisenberg-Ray-Lewis-Is-Gone-But-No-Nonsense-Culture-Remains/8e071f70-0ff7-4e4a-8b63-505c26c609bf">will be lacking leadership</a> without LB Ray Lewis.</p>
<p><em><strong>No, but they surely will be lacking the saliva Lewis spit all over them every game.</strong></em></p>
<p>Ohio State held <a href="http://www.cleveland.com/osu/index.ssf/2013/04/sacks_in_ohio_state_spring_gam.html">their spring football game</a> at Paul Brown Stadium.</p>
<p><em><strong>That&#8217;s nice. Is it really worth a story? Who won? Oh, don&#8217;t tell me &#8211; Ohio State.</strong></em></p>
<p>Ten <a href="http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2013/04/ten_players_on_the_cleveland_b.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&amp;utm_medium=twitter">players on the</a> Browns’ draft radar.</p>
<p><em><strong>Well, considering they only have seven picks, they should be in pretty good shape.</strong></em></p>
<div id="attachment_16859" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 160px"><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/6875398.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-16859" title="NFL: Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/6875398-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Emmanuel Sanders<br />Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports</p></div>
<p>Ed Bouchette of the <em>Pittsburgh Post-Gazette</em> <a href="http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/sports/steelers/on-the-steelers-keeping-sanders-not-letting-him-go-would-be-the-real-gamble-683373/">isn’t in favor</a> of the Steelers matching the offer sheet WR <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5885/emmanuel-sanders">Emmanuel Sanders</a> signed with the Patriots.</p>
<p><em><strong>So who cares what Ed thinks? He doesn&#8217;t control the purse strings.</strong></em></p>
<p>Breaking down draft prospects <a href="http://www.houstontexans.com/tv-media/videos/Evaluating-wide-receivers-in-2013-NFL-Draft/26be91f3-55b4-4fd7-941d-86d44c0227ad">at wide receiver</a> with the Texans website.</p>
<p><em><strong>Breakdowns are always great. Will they need some prozac?</strong></em></p>
<p><a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/1567/colts-qb">Colts QB</a> <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6439/andrew-luck">Andrew Luck</a> reports for work Monday after spending <a href="http://www.indystar.com/article/20130413/SPORTS03/304130064/1058/SPORTS03?nclick_check=1">some time this weekend</a> visiting a children’s hospital.</p>
<p><strong><em>Now that&#8217;s nice. Warm fuzzies before the coaches start ripping on him in practice</em>.</strong></p>
<p>Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown is on board <a href="http://jacksonville.com/sports/football/jaguars/2013-04-13/story/mayor-alvin-brown-says-he-favors-video-boards-everbank">with new video boards</a> for the Jaguars.</p>
<p><em><strong>Shouldn&#8217;t the Jags be more interested in spending money on good players before they improve their video boards?</strong></em></p>
<p>Looking back at the Titans’ draft in 2001, including the pick that <a href="http://www.titansonline.com/news/article-1/Titans-Draft-Countdown-Big-Trade-Another-Dyson-Highlight-2001/9e81f800-ff70-49cc-b405-6e62fba6d03f">gave them a pair</a> of Dysons on the roster.</p>
<div id="attachment_16860" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/6949700.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-16860" title="NCAA Football: East-West Shrine Game" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/6949700-e1365954607987-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Jerry Glanville<br />Jeff Griffith-USA TODAY Sports</p></div>
<p><em><strong>It&#8217;s always nice to look back. But they shouldn&#8217;t dwell &#8211; we all know the NFL stands for Not For Long &#8230; right, Jerry Glanville?</strong></em></p>
<p>Broncos exec John Elway doesn’t think the 2013 draft is <a href="http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_23021288/broncos-john-elway-says-this-years-nfl-draft?source=rss">a top-heavy one</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>I never liked John Elway, so I don&#8217;t care what he thinks.</strong></em></p>
<p>The Chiefs are working to come up with <a href="http://www.kansascity.com/2013/04/13/4180081/hunt-outlines-changes-the-chiefs.html#storylink=rss">new rewards and experiences</a> to make attending their games more appealing.</p>
<p><em><strong>How about a winning football team, guys? That will make the game appealing.</strong></em></p>
<p>The Raiders <a href="http://www.csnbayarea.com/blog/paul-gutierrez/raiders-draft-outlook-specialists">probably won’t be drafting</a> any kickers or punters.</p>
<p><em><strong>That&#8217;s good, because they need a whole lot of other players.</strong></em></p>
<p>Chargers coach Mike McCoy and G.M. Tom Telesco <a href="http://www.chargers.com/news/article-1/Telesco-McCoy-Throw-Out-First-Pitch-at-Petco-Park/47a37794-d671-41a3-9e0d-92c1fc7ad860">threw out first pitches</a> at a Padres game.</p>
<p><strong>Let&#8217;s hope they didn&#8217;t throw like a girl &#8230; they already have a quarterback who throws that way.</strong></p>
<p>Texas Tech RB Eric Stephens said it would be <a href="http://www.star-telegram.com/2013/04/12/4771308/texas-tech-running-back-hopes.html">a dream come true</a> to play for the Cowboys.</p>
<p><em><strong>I would say it would be more like a nightmare.</strong></em></p>
<p>The Giants <a href="http://snygiants.com/2013-nfl-draft/vts-special-teams-ace-alonzo-tweedy-to-visit-giants/">are expected to bring</a> Virginia Tech S Alonzo Tweedy in for a visit.</p>
<p><em><strong>So, are we supposed to get excited about this?</strong></em></p>
<div id="attachment_16861" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 160px"><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/7172260.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-16861" title="NFL: Annual Meetings" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/7172260-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Chip Kelly<br />Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports</p></div>
<p>Eagles coach Chip Kelly won with <a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/eagles/20130414_Bob_Ford__Eagles__Chip_Kelly_won_at_Oregon_with_different_kinds_of_quarterbacks.html">different kinds of quarterbacks</a> as a college coach.</p>
<p><em><strong>Aren&#8217;t all quarterbacks different?</strong></em></p>
<p>The Redskins are moving <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3707/darryl-tapp">Darryl Tapp</a> <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/wp/2013/04/12/redskins-draft-the-depth-chart-as-it-currently-stands/">to outside linebacker</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>Woo-hoo! They must be &#8220;Tapp-ing&#8221; into his inner (or is it outer) strengths.</strong></em></p>
<p>Bears LB D.J. Williams isn’t worried about having <a href="http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2013/04/full_qa_with_bears_middle_line.html">no guaranteed money</a> in his contract.</p>
<p><em><strong>I&#8217;m sure he&#8217;s more concerned about having a guaranteed job.</strong></em></p>
<p>The Lions website takes some time to <a href="http://www.detroitlions.com/news/ohara/article-1/Dorne-Dibble-made-his-mark-as-a-two-way-player-in-the-1950s/b87ae07e-ee50-4304-b551-69b3a41a0764">remember the accomplishments</a> of two-way player Dorne Dibble in the 1950s.</p>
<p><em><strong>Oh yes, Dorne. Remember him well. Not.</strong></em></p>
<p>Compensatory picks have landed the Packers some <a href="http://www.packers.com/news-and-events/article-1/Compensatory-picks-have-proved-valuable-to-Packers/40fe0c8f-8c73-4876-9fb1-a3a1df77e6ae">contributors in past seasons</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>And let&#8217;s hope that trend continues.</strong></em></p>
<p>What <a href="http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_23020744/charley-walters-tennessee-wideout-justin-hunter-might-be?source=rss">are the chances</a> Tennessee WR <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/8415/justin-hunter">Justin Hunter</a> lands with the Vikings?</p>
<p><em><strong>Our hope is that the Vikings fall asleep on draft day and miss their two first round selections.</strong></em></p>
<div id="attachment_16862" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/6954352.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-16862" title="NFL: NFC Championship-San Francisco 49ers at Atlanta Falcons" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/6954352-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">JArthur Blank<br />Daniel Shirey-USA TODAY Sports</p></div>
<p>Falcons owner Arthur Blank is ready to get to “<a href="http://www.ajc.com/news/news/blank-on-stadium-with-politics-done-the-fun-starts/nXLfF/">the fun part</a>” of designing his team’s new stadium.</p>
<p><em><strong>What&#8217;s the fun part? Going to the bank and withdrawing the cash so the taxpayers don&#8217;t have to pay for it?</strong></em></p>
<p>Panthers DE <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/7564/frank-alexander">Frank Alexander</a> <a href="http://www.heraldonline.com/2013/04/13/4771042/panthers-alexander-knows-lotuleleis.html#storylink=rss">went through a similar experience</a> to Utah DT <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/8431/star-lotulelei">Star Lotulelei</a> regarding a heart scare at the combine.</p>
<p><em><strong>Now, this is not a funny thing. We seriously hope that Star is healthy. Great potential.</strong></em></p>
<p>The Saints are excited to get <a href="http://theadvocate.com/sports/saints/5700577-123/after-long-wait-saints-set">back to work</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>It&#8217;s about time.</strong></em></p>
<p>A suggestion that the Buccaneers <a href="http://tbo.com/sports/bucs/salary-structure-key-in-bucs-revis-negotiations-b82478114z1">could be interested</a> in drafting Tennessee QB <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/8394/tyler-bray">Tyler Bray</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>Why do they need a suggestion? If they want to do it, they will do it?</strong></em></p>
<p><a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/2036/cardinals-qb">Cardinals QB</a> <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4179/drew-stanton">Drew Stanton</a> <a href="http://www.azcentral.com/sports/cardinals/articles/20130413hard-luck-quarterback-drew-stanton-waits-hoping-hell-chance-start-cardinals.html">still wants to be</a> a starting quarterback.</p>
<div id="attachment_16863" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 160px"><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/6597574.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-16863" title="NFL: Preseason-Indianapolis Colts at Pittsburgh Steelers" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/6597574-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Drew Stanton<br />Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports</p></div>
<p><em><strong>Too bad, Drew. Dream on.</strong></em></p>
<p>Former Rams WR Isaac Bruce is starting to <a href="http://www.stltoday.com/sports/football/professional/isaac-bruce-wants-to-share-his-knowledge/article_b5bd50f5-1794-5735-a5fc-f521de92d7d0.html">move into coaching</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>Great player. We wish him luck.</strong></em></p>
<p>Former 49ers QB Joe Montana <a href="http://blogs.mercurynews.com/49ers/2013/04/13/joe-montana-tees-off-on-tiger-woods-rule-controversy/">had some strong thoughts</a> about Tiger Woods getting a penalty at the Masters.</p>
<p><em><strong>What the heck does Montana know about golfing? And is anyone really going to listen to his opinion? Stick to football, Joe.</strong></em></p>
<p>The Broncos and Patriots called CB <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/1165/antoine-winfield">Antoine Winfield</a> <a href="http://blogs.twincities.com/vikings/2013/04/13/more-on-antoine-winfields-decision-to-leave-the-vikings-for-the-seahawks/">before he signed</a> with the Seahawks.</p>
<p><em><strong>Wonder what they called him?</strong></em></p>

<p>For those of you who follow <a href="http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/13/saturday-morning-one-liners-177/" target="_blank">profootballtalk.com</a> religiously like me, you know how they do a great job with their daily team &#8220;one-liners.&#8221;</p>
<p>I love perusing through the list and clicking on the links that are of interest to find out what&#8217;s happening around the league. We all know the <a href="http://www.nfl.com" target="_blank">NFL</a> is a prime source for soap opera-level news and there isn&#8217;t a day that goes by where there isn&#8217;t some headline that makes everyone following football yank their head around or at least raise an eyebrow.</p>
<p>I love it, you love it, we all love it.</p>
<p>So today I decided that because the snow is falling outside, the ground has at least two feet of snow on it, the lakes are about three feet thick and baseball is sucking right now that I would have some fun with these headlines.</p>
<p>What I&#8217;m about to do is counter each of the headlines that appeared this morning on today&#8217;s one-liners with my own thoughts on the issue at hand &#8230; and as a warning, some of these may not be young-age appropriate. No, they won&#8217;t be XXX either, though if there were one about Super Bowl XXXII, I might have some derisive words of choice.</p>
<p>However, I don&#8217;t think that will be the case. So, here we go &#8230; I will post each of the real headlines that were included in today&#8217;s one-liners and follow it up with my own thoughts &#8230; or maybe my own headline, depending on how I feel at the moment.</p>
<p>Enjoy &#8230;</p>
<h1>Saturday morning one-liners</h1>
<p>Here’s the full list of the <a href="http://blogs.buffalonews.com/press-coverage/2013/04/for-the-record-buffalo-bills-conclude-their-30-pre-draft-visits.html">Bills’ pre-draft visitors</a></p>
<p><em><strong>&#8230; Or what&#8217;s the best way to scare away players &#8230;</strong></em></p>

<p>Entering his eighth NFL season, Patriots K <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3937/stephen-gostkowski">Stephen Gostkowski</a> has the <a href="http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-england-patriots/post/_/id/4742074/gostkowski-adjusts-to-veteran-status">fourth longest tenure on the team</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>We wonder if it&#8217;s because everyone&#8217;s been partying like Gronk &#8230;</strong></em></p>
<p>The Dolphins believe they have the ammunition to <a href="http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/04/13/3341932/dolphins-cast-wide-net-in-round.html">trade up from No. 12 to No. 1</a>, but they most likely won’t.</p>
<p><em><strong>Well, why even mention it then?</strong></em></p>
<p>Jets DL <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6464/muhammad-wilkerson">Muhammad Wilkerson</a> looks forward to becoming <a href="http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/article-insidewithea/Wilkerson-Has-Leadership-on-His-Mind/04dc0228-c28e-4d0a-bd5f-94e5c19649a7">a leader of the defense</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>Yes, but will the Jets have anyone to lead the offense?</strong></em></p>
<p>Steelers C <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5706/maurkice-pouncey">Maurkice Pouncey</a> says he definitely will be <a href="http://www.altoonamirror.com/page/content.detail/id/570614/Front-and-center--Pouncey-set-for-Steelers--leadership-role.html?nav=751">taking on a leadership role</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>Didn&#8217;t he have the role before?</strong></em></p>
<p>Bengals RB <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5420/bernard-scott">Bernard Scott</a>, who re-signed on Friday, explained that he’s “<a href="http://www.bengals.com/news/article-1/Scott-back-in-fold-says-knee-responding-Bengals-close-in-on-TE-Smith/de08f879-9644-4e3b-ab76-cf6b4f8489c5">comfortable</a>” and “happy” in Cincinnati.</p>
<p><em><strong>Now, who in their right mind would admit to that?</strong></em></p>
<p>The Ravens <a href="http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-connecticut-linebacker-sio-moore-has-visited-ravens-steelers-20130412,0,1384206.story">have hosted</a> UConn LB</p>

<p>.</p>
<p><em><strong>And did they wine and dine him, too?</strong></em></p>
<p>Former Browns player and employee Ricky Feacher, now a substitute teacher and coach, was arrested this week on <a href="http://www.hernandotoday.com/he/list/news/former-nfl-player-substitute-teacher-in-hernando-arrested-on-drug-charges-b82477327z1">drug and traffic charges</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>I guess now he will be a former teacher and coach, eh?</strong></em></p>
<p>Titans TE <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3976/delanie-walker">Delanie Walker</a>, who lost an aunt and uncle to a drunk driver after the Super Bowl, <a href="http://www.tennessean.com/article/20130413/SPORTS01/304130058/2072/SPORTS">has pledged support</a> for a bill in Tennessee that would require ignition interlock devices for first offenders.</p>
<p><em><strong>And that IS a good thing.</strong></em></p>
<p>Texans RB <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5469/arian-foster">Arian Foster</a> has <a href="http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans/2013/04/arian-foster-reaches-semifinals-in-madden-cover-vote/">made it to the semifinals</a> of the latest contrived ballot process for determining whose photo will appear on the cover of a popular-but-underwhelming video game that, if the technical upgrades were as good as the promotional efforts, would be a much better product.</p>
<p><em><strong>Wow. I don&#8217;t know how to top that convoluted headline &#8230;</strong></em></p>
<p>The <em>Indianapolis Star</em> <a href="http://www.indystar.com/article/20130412/SPORTS03/304120018/Indianapolis-Colts-worst-draft-picks-No-6-defensive-tackle-Vincent-Burns">continues to look</a> at the Colts’ worst picks; the latest was made in the third round of the 2005 draft, at a time when RB <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3221/darren-sproles">Darren Sproles</a>was still on the board.</p>
<p><em><strong>Sheesh &#8230; Don&#8217;t The Star employees have anything better to do?</strong></em></p>
<p>Jaguars.com has the team <a href="http://www.jaguars.com/news/article-MockDraft/Jaguarscom-mock-draft-20--/ecbaa9d3-187d-43d4-ad84-8afd72b31098">taking DE/LB</a></p>
<div id="attachment_16816" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 160px"><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/7073408.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-16816" title="NFL: Combine" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/7073408-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Dion Jordan<br />Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports</p></div>
<p>with the second pick in the draft.</p>
<p><em><strong>Wise choice, though any choice by the Jags is an upgrade</strong></em></p>
<p>The Chiefs likely will start the 2013 regular season <a href="http://www.kansascity.com/2013/04/12/4177540/expect-chiefs-to-start-season.html">on the road</a>, due to the Royals’ schedule.</p>
<p><em><strong>What is this? First it&#8217;s the Ravens being pushed around by the Orioles and now it&#8217;s the Chiefs &#8211; but this is twice as bad because it&#8217;s the ROYALS!</strong></em></p>
<p>The Broncos have released pictures of their <a href="http://sportsglory.com/nfl/broncos-release-pictures-of-new-high-def-video-board/3439">new giant video boards</a>.  (We look forward to it playing <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4Kgzn3tDQU">this song</a>.)</p>
<p><em><strong>Will they be premiering it by showing the replay of that bomb from Flacco at the end of overtime in that playoff game last year?</strong></em></p>
<p>The Chargers’ list of pre-draft visitors <a href="http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2013/apr/12/chance-warmack-visits-chargers-nfl-draft/">includes Alabama G Chance Warmack</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>The Chargers should just kidnap him because we all know he wants to go to Tennessee.</strong></em></p>
<p>The Raiders’ official 2013 draft party will be held at the <a href="http://www.raiders.com/news/2013-Draft/article-1/Raiders-Official-Draft-Party/28e7de81-a05e-45ff-ba78-9ba58d2de229">Buffalo Wild Wings in San Ramon</a>.  (Fans will be able to throw darts at the board the team previously used when making picks.)</p>
<div id="attachment_16817" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/6893018.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-16817" title="NFL: Oakland Raiders at San Diego Chargers" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/6893018-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Oakland Raiders fan Wayne Mabry aka Violator<br />Kirby Lee/Image of Sport-USA TODAY Sports</p></div>
<p><strong>Now this is a great idea &#8230; Raiders fans dressed in their best eating wild wings. Will there be beer, too?</strong></p>
<p>The biggest question marks in the Redskins’ starting lineup (apart from the health of QB <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/7406/robert-griffin-iii">Robert Griffin III</a>) <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/wp/2013/04/12/redskins-draft-the-depth-chart-as-it-currently-stands/">come at the safety position</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>Oh, boo-hoo. Every team has injuries. We don&#8217;t feel your pain, Daniel Snyder.</strong></em></p>
<p>The Cowboys, once a Team of the Decade, are now settling for <a href="http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/dallas-cowboys/headlines/20130412-dallas-cowboys-2005-draft-class-ranked-the-best-of-the-decade.ece">slightly less meaningful honors</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>Yeah, like chumps of the decade.</strong></em></p>
<p>Could the Eagles <a href="http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/eagles/20130413_Will_Eagles_trade_down_in_the_draft_.html">trade down from No. 4</a>?</p>
<p><em><strong>Now, why would they do that? Is Chip Kelly stupid?  </strong></em></p>
<p>Former Giants LB Marcus Buckley has been <a href="http://www.centralvalleybusinesstimes.com/stories/001/?ID=23228">accused of workers’ compensation fraud</a>; Buckley allegedly received $1.588 million to which he wasn’t entitled.</p>
<p><em><strong>Holy crap! Football player get workman&#8217;s comp? No wonder the rest of us can&#8217;t be considered eligible &#8230; he took it all!  </strong></em></p>
<div id="attachment_16818" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 160px"><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/5681478.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-16818" title="NCAA Football: Washington State at California" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/5681478-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">California Golden Bears kicker Giorgio Tavecchio</p></div>
<p>Packers K Giorgio Tavecchio was <a href="http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/article/20130412/PKR0101/130412055/Tavecchio-excited-his-second-chance">working as a student-athlete tutor</a> at Cal before receiving an email inviting him to work out for the team.</p>
<p><strong><em>What? The Packers didn&#8217;t text him, too? What about Skype?</em>  </strong></p>
<p>The Vikings are <a href="http://footballjobs.teamworkonline.com/teamwork/jobs/jobskey.cfm?s=Vikings#54218">looking for a new, well, Viking</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>Hey! What happened to the the revolting guy they used to have? I could smell him through the television!  </strong></em></p>
<p>The Bears hosted <a href="http://www.chicagobears.com/news/article-1/Bears-hold-pre-draft-workout-for-area-prospects/7b4efa12-c592-4098-b9a8-4d507579910c">50 local prospects on Friday</a>.  (Hopefully <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=769A4mUY7g0">one of these guys</a> will finally get a shot.)</p>
<p><em><strong>Holy prospects? I&#8217;m hoping they all had name tags!  </strong></em></p>
<p>Former Lions K <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/1872/jason-hanson">Jason Hanson</a> believes QB <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5132/matthew-stafford">Matthew Stafford</a> will <a href="http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/2013/04/jason_hanson_on_wdfn.html">soon make the Lions his team</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>Whose team was it before? Was Matt Millen still hanging around?</strong></em></p>
<p>For Mother’s Day, the Buccaneers <a href="http://www.wtsp.com/news/local/article/310611/8/Bucs-accepting-noms-for-Mothers-Day-Makeovers">will provide makeovers</a> to 50 mothers of current military members.</p>
<p><em><strong>Oh how nice. I mean it. That is really nice. I can&#8217;t say anything bad about that.  </strong></em></p>
<p>Saints DL <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/7555/akiem-hicks">Akiem Hicks</a> will <a href="http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2013/04/versatile_akiem_hicks_will_lik.html">primarily serve as a nose tackle</a> in the 3-4 defense, but he’ll also work at defensive end.</p>
<p><em><strong>C&#8217;mon man. Just give him a job &#8230; don&#8217;t confuse him.</strong> </em></p>
<p>With all the talk about the Falcons’ defensive ends, it’s easy to forget they have a<a href="http://www.atlantafalcons.com/news/article-1/Babineaux-a-Leader-in-Tackles-for-Loss/d44af3a0-5291-4864-b6b0-982a78c14576">pretty good defensive tackle</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>Ok, who is it? You mean I have to click on the hyper link? Oh, OK &#8230;  </strong></em></p>
<p>Panthers RB</p>
<div id="attachment_16819" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 160px"><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/6800558.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-16819" title="USA TODAY Sports" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2013/04/6800558-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Jonathan Stewart<br />Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports</p></div>

<p><em><strong>And in the meantime, this guy has made plenty of defenses sing the blues.  </strong></em></p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.mercurynews.com/sports/ci_23011909/49ers-add-steve-young-george-seifert-super-bowl?source=rss">49ers have added</a> QB Steve Young and coach George Seifert to the committee that hopes to host Super Bowl L.</p>
<p><em><strong>And the Packers will have Brett Favre and Mike Holmgren promoting to host Super Bowl L in Titletown</strong></em></p>
<p>Rams CB <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6473/janoris-jenkins">Janoris Jenkins</a> largely stayed out of trouble in 2012, but his online photos suggest that <a href="http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/dailyrft/2013/04/janoris_jenkins_instagram_st_louis_rams.php">trouble is never that far away</a>.</p>
<p><em><strong>Why is it that some people are so stupid?</strong></em></p>
<p>Cardinals RB <a href="http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6480/ryan-williams">Ryan Williams</a> believes his season-ending shoulder injury <a href="http://www.xtra910.com/player/?station=KGME-AM&amp;program_name=podcast&amp;program_id=interviews.xml&amp;mid=23077845">helped buy more time</a> for his ruptured patellar tendon from 2011 to heal.</p>
<p><em><strong>Real healthy guy, I would say.</strong> </em></p>

<p><em><strong>What did he do? Oh I know &#8211; he stopped talking &#8230;  </strong></em></p>

<p>Instant replay has brought so much to the National Football League and is one of the most important rule changes in the past 20 years.</p>
<p>It has brought the league into the 21st century, leaving behind that traditionalist game of Major League Baseball to struggle with the decision about whether they need to bring electronics into its realm</p>
<p>It should &#8211; but I digress.</p>
<p>Instant replay is great, it&#8217;s gotten better and as Mike Florio of Profootballtalk.com says, it could and should go even further.</p>
<p>New last year was the rule that all scoring plays would be reviewed. That&#8217;s great and as Florio points out, it added a mere one second &#8211; yes, that&#8217;s right &#8211; one second to the average time of an NFL game last year.</p>
<p>New this year will be the rule that all turnovers will be reviewed &#8211; no need for the red flag and the involvement of the coach. They have better things to do.</p>
<p>With that said, Florio believes, and I agree, that it would be wise to extend the rules to include all plays that could have been scoring plays &#8211; such as the back linesman who judges the receiver was out of bounds while catching a potential touchdown pass. He also believes that all first down plays or potential first down plays should also be reviewed.</p>
<p>These are good ideas that will only enhance the instant replay rules for the league.</p>
<p>And hey, with the potential for the referees lockout this season, who&#8217;s to say that these new review rules won&#8217;t be even better for the game.</p>
<p>Packers and Bears fans know all about the &#8220;Instant Replay&#8221; game back in the 1980s. Packers fans also know the Jerry Rice fumbled on that play against the Packers in the Playoff game they stole way back when.</p>
<p>We don&#8217;t want those kinds of things marring the game. We want the right call for both teams. It makes it a clean, efficient and fair game. That&#8217;s all we ask &#8211; that there is a level playing field.</p>
<p>Florio&#8217;s ideas go a long way in reaching that point. The league should be listening.</p>

<p>This past week, Aaron Rodgers was recognized as the best player in the NFL by his peers who voted him to that spot in NFL Network&#8217;s Top 100 Players of 2012.</p>
<p>That was the biggest news emanating from the NFL.</p>
<p>But there was other news as well, most notably that coming from the interview a former Packers quarterback gave to NFL Network&#8217;s Deion Sanders where for the first time He Who Shall Not Be Named gave his most extensive praise for the man who succeeded him behind center in Green Bay.</p>
<p>Favre has had few words for the best player in the NFL &#8211; its MVP and its 2010 Super Bowl champion and MVP.</p>
<p>That is until now.</p>
<p>And that&#8217;s why many feel Brett Favre is finally softening his views about the franchise where he spent the best 16 years of his life.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/160953945.html#!page=0&amp;pageSize=10&amp;sort=newestfirst" target="_blank">In a story today on JSonline</a>, Michael Hunt argues that Favre is indeed ready to extend the olive branch and that it&#8217;s about time. In reaction to that story, <a href="http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/06/30/favre-may-be-trying-to-get-back-in-green-bays-good-graces/" target="_blank">Profootballtalk.com&#8217;s</a> Michael David Smith argues the same thing &#8211; that it&#8217;s time for Favre to come clean and for all Packers fans to forgive the player Ron Wolf calls the Packers&#8217; all-time best.</p>
<div id="attachment_10046" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 211px"><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2012/06/DSC_09841.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-10046" title="DSC_0984" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2012/06/DSC_09841-201x300.jpg" alt="" width="201" height="300" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Aaron Rodgers is our current hero. Raymond T. Rivard photograph</p></div>
<p>I can&#8217;t disagree with any of the arguments. Yes, there are those out there who still carry a grudge. In my mind, all I can remember are the tons of memories and highlights the guy brought to an entire generation of football and Packers fans. He was football. He was the Green Bay Packers. And because of that, there will be a day in the next two years when Favre will make a triumphant return to have his number retired.</p>
<p>Whether he man-hugs Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy isn&#8217;t important. What he needs to do is allow all Packers fans to remember those warm fuzzies they felt so many times &#8211; as well as the anger they felt when he threw all those interceptions &#8211; including the one he threw as his last pass with the team. We were disappointed, yes, but we can&#8217;t let that one memory overtake all those good times.Part of the healing process is learning to understand and deal with the range of emotions.</p>
<p>Yes, the good news this week surrounded our current hero &#8211; Aaron Rodgers &#8211; as it should. However, percolating in the background was this story that will someday dominate our headlines.</p>
<p>Frankly, I can&#8217;t wait for that day. It will serve to bring us all back together, linking two generations of fans and players &#8211; as well as an entire franchise &#8211; in all that&#8217;s good.</p>
<p>To highlight and bring all this together, I&#8217;ve included below a comment that was left on the profootballtalk.com website. What this individual says is not only true, but emphasizes several points that make this topic so relevant.</p>
<p>Please read what this reader thinks. If you disagree, fine. But I feel there will be few who do &#8230;</p>
<blockquote><p><cite>boothlustig says:</cite><small>Jun 30, 2012 3:56 PM</small></p></blockquote>
<div>
<blockquote><p>Favre played 16 years for the Packers with talent, toughness, ego, faults and insecurity. Favre leads GB to the ’07 Title Game and then Thompson decides to move on. Goes with Rodgers who had played 6 quarters in three years. Does Ted Thompson have guts?</p>
<p>It was a great move for both. Favre earns about $50mill from the Jets and Vikes. Thompson knew that Favre could still play and that Minn was the perfect team for him. Why else the 2008 three number 1 penalty if the Jets traded him to Minn? Thompson gets a 3rd rounder for Favre and packages it in a trade on draft day 2009 with NE for Clay Matthews.</p>
<div id="attachment_10047" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 208px"><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2012/06/DSC_01071.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-10047" title="DSC_0107" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/51/files/2012/06/DSC_01071-198x300.jpg" alt="" width="198" height="300" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Ted Thompson did what was best for the Packers when he made Aaron Rodgers the starter back in 200. Raymond T. Rivard photograph</p></div>
<p>Favre ends up on Minn in 2009 and kicks GB’s butt for 2 games. GB comes back in 2010 and kicks Favre’s Minn butt for 2 games and wins a Super Bowl.</p>
<p>If Favre does not return to football in 2008 , GB may not have Matthews. Rodgers shows he is special with how he deals with pressure in ’08 opener in GB. Rodgers was not a great QB in 2005 and 2006. But he shut up, learned his craft, changed his throwing motion, got bigger, stronger, matured, figured out the West Coast offense, watched Favre and did not have to get beaten up the way Smith did in SF 2005 or the way Aikman did in Dall in 1989 or the way Favre did in 2005 and 2006 when Thompson rebuilt the offensive lines.</p>
<p>Favre’s indecisiveness[I am retired. No wait. I want to play. You dont think I can play well then just watch me] worked out worked out well for both sides and it sure seemed to generate interest for the national media. It got tiresome the ’365 day make it stop’ updates but if he were not a good player doing things after age 37 that no QB had ever done, no one would have cared and no media outlet would have bothered.</p>

Geoff Burke-US PRESSWIRE</p></div>
<p>I&#8217;ve always been a big fan of <a title="Gotta love Costas" href="http://lombardiave.com/2011/11/27/gotta-love-costas/" target="_blank">Bob Costas</a>. His coverage over the years has been right on target and this time around I have to say I can&#8217;t disagree with him.</p>
<p>Last night he presented his thoughts on the punishments meted out by Roger Goodell on the New Orleans Saints.</p>
<p>Below you will find his comments and <a href="http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/22/costas-applauds-punishment-of-saints/" target="_blank">here is a link to the video on profootballtalk.com</a> His on-air presentation was a part of  <em>NBC SportsTalk </em>Wednesday night.</p>
<p>Take the time to read or listen to this. Even if you don&#8217;t totally agree with what he has to say, he says it well and the information is of importance to all NFL fans.</p>
<p>Here is the text of his presentation:</p>
<blockquote><p>“I want to stand up and cheer for Roger Goodell.</p>
<p>“Now, the penalty to the players, which may be a little trickier because he may face some resistance from the Players Association; but the penalty for the players will be forthcoming, we are led to believe in about a week, and I think they will also be appropriately severe.</p>
<p>“He has made an important statement today. And anyone who thinks that the Saints are scapegoats because of the present atmosphere in the NFL, maybe their timing was off, but they deserve every bit of this. They are blatantly guilty of something that has no place whatsoever in sports.</p>
<p>“And it goes beyond the idea of bounties. If people interpret this as, ‘Well no one will ever have any bounties anymore’ at least not anything that can be traced, Roger Goodell is sending a message about the culture of the game, about the celebration of a kind of violence, a kind of brutality that goes above and beyond anything that reasonable people should accept.</p>
<p>“It’s understood within football, whether there are bounties or not, that many players, not all, maybe not most, that many players are either indifferent to whether or not they injure opponents or actually take pride and glee in injuring opponents.  There is no question about it.  This is not isolated to the New Orleans Saints.</p>
<p>“The NFL as it is presently constituted is a great, great game that’s exciting in many ways, interesting in many ways, and clearly is America’s most popular sport.  It also has a serious problem because it is fundamentally brutal in a way that reasonable people should no longer accept.</p>
<p>“And Roger Goodell is trying to deal with that, both (a) because it’s the right thing to do, and I believe he is a good man, but (b) because he’s also a businessman and he knows that with all this litigation out there, and more coming, he’s got to position the league as standing as reasonably as it can against excessive and gratuitous violence.”</p></blockquote>

<p>He visited the <a href="http://www.seattleseahawks.com" target="_blank">Seattle Seahawks</a>&#8216; facility late this week and though Dolphins brass were afraid he may not make it out of the Pacific Northwest without a contract, Flynn&#8217;s father, Alvin, told the <a href="http://www.palmbeachpost.com" target="_blank">Palm Beach Post</a>, that Matt had all along planned to make at least a couple of visits before making a decision on where to continue his future.</p>
<p>According to <a href="http://www.profootballtalk.com" target="_blank">profootballtalk.com</a>, the elder Flynn was quoted in the Post as saying, “He said it [Seattle] was a really nice place, and he enjoyed it. But he wanted to look at both of them. That was the way he felt going in.&#8221;</p>
<p>And in speaking for himself with his son in his best interests, Alvin said, “Logic would tell me he would do something this weekend or thereabouts. He doesn’t want to drag this out.”</p>
<p>It&#8217;s good to see Flynn going about business as he sees fit and not waiting around for Peyton Manning to rule the day. Flynn is a deserving athlete, no matter where he signs.</p>
<p>Is he as deserving as much as Peyton Manning?</p>

<p>Mike Florio gives the Packers the once over with his posting from <a href="http://www.profootballtalk.com" target="_blank">Profootballtalk.com</a> &#8230;</p>
<p>While he doesn&#8217;t tell us anything new about what the Packers need to do this off-season to get them back to Super Bowl contention, he does lay it out in a straightforward, no-nonsense manner.</p>
<p>The bottom line is that there are concerns on the offensive side of the ball, the running backs, getting a backup QB, and the offensive line, it&#8217;s the defensive side of the ball that will be the key to an improved Packers team next season.</p>
<p>How the Packers address these needs is what&#8217;s going to be of most interest this year. Does Ted Thompson go out of his comfort zone and actually address some of these needs through free agency or a trade? Or does he stick with the program and build through the draft?</p>
<p>My guess is that Thompson continues down the conservative road and works the draft like he has in the past. That approach will most likely leave the Packers with some significant holes again &#8211; at least that&#8217;s my opinion.</p>
<p>Anyway, take a quick look at the video to hear Florio talk about what the Packers have to do to improve next season.</p>

<p>What that will mean for the team and Peyton Manning will all play out in the near future as team officials work to hire a new head man. It also makes one wonder how many of the Packers assistants will be tabbed for interviews. Stay tuned.</p>
