A short blip on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel this morning provides the most recent odds for NFL teams and the upcoming season. According to the article by Bob Wofley, oddsmaker RJ Bell of Pregame.com  is giving the nod to the Packers to not only make it to the Super Bowl, but he makes them 6-to-1 favorites to win it.

The Patriots are given a 7-t0-1 chance, followed by the 49ers (13-1),  Broncos (14-1), Texans (14-1) and Eagles (14-1).

I guess that’s the good news, if you’re a betting man.

However, we know that this is the NFL and the reality of the game far supersedes the oddsmakers’ prognostications. Players get injured, freak fumbles occur, weather conditions creep in and a myriad of other factors eventually affect the outcome of football games.

Another interesting factoid presented is that Bell has the Packers favored in all 16 regular season games at this point – even when the Packers visit the New York Giants in week 12. As long as Aaron Rodgers stays healthy, I can see that as a real possibility.

But being favored and actually carrying it to fruition are two different beasts.

So, the bottom line as we inch toward the start of training camp is that the Packers are again being viewed as one of the best.

That’s a good thing.
