Green Bay Packers 53-man roster predictions, post-preseason edition
By Kenn Korb
Linebackers
Clay Matthews, Julius Peppers, A.J. Hawk, Brad Jones, Mike Neal, Nick Perry, Jamari Lattimore, Jayrone Elliott, Sam Barrington
Matthews and Peppers are set as the starters at OLB, with Hawk and Jones reprising their ILB roles. Neal and Perry will be first up as backups at OLB, with Perry sharing time on the field with Peppers whenever Dom Capers uses him in the ‘Elephant’ end position. Lattimore should see a decent amount of time switching in at ILB for Hawk and Jones, where his speed and playmaking will be of help.
Because of his preseason production (5 sacks), Elliott has seemingly forced his way onto the roster; there is no way he makes it beyond waivers to the practice squad after the pass-rush skills he exhibited. Beyond him, each player has faults that could drop them, but someone will make it.
Bradford has been in all views a disappointment so far, but in the final preseason game he was able to take advantage of an injury to Nate Palmer and see the field in the final preseason game, where he racked up 7 tackles (4 solo). That might be enough to secure him a spot. Andy Mulumba and Barrington could both conceivably make the roster, but because of the talent at some other spots I only expect one of the two to make the team; of the two, my pick is Barrington.
