Miss: Marquand Manuel

In 2006, the Packers signed safety Marquand Manuel to a five-year, $10 million deal. Unfortunately, he would only last one of those five years in Green Bay.

The safety joined the Packers the same year as Ryan Pickett, but Thompson didn’t hit this selection out of the park like he did with other free agents in 2006.

Manuel started all 16 games of the season, making 81 tackles and an interception, according to Pro Football Reference. Despite that, he was blamed for giving up a number of big plays during his time with the Packers and lost his starting job before the 2007 season.

Thompson released Manuel in 2007 after one season, and he went on to spend time in Carolina, Denver and Detroit.

His release was followed by Thompson drafting safety Aaron Rouse in the third round of the 2008 draft.
