When your team drafts a fullback these days, that’s what it is all about. That goes doubly for Green Bay, since they already have a pretty decent one in fan-favorite John Kuhn.
Kuhn’s presence shouldn’t change things too much here though. Ripkowski could take over that spot (Kuhn has no guaranteed money on his one-year deal, so he can be cut any time with no recourse), but mostly likely he doesn’t this year.
He should be another guy getting plenty of special teams work in 2015.
He also could be seen as a future replacement for Kuhn too, possibly taking over as soon as next season if things go well.
No surprise there; yet another pick by Ted Thompson with both immediate and future potential impact on the Packers.
