Overall grades for the Packers

Overall, most felt like the Packers were justified in each of their picks, but that some were still minor head-scratchers; taking two players with cornerback designations in the first two rounds seemed a bit much, but the Packers are certain they will know how to use them both, whether either can beat out veteran slot corner Casey Hayward for a full-time spot or in a corner rotation.

Some confusion stemmed from the third round pick, wide receiver Ty Montgomery.

While the Packers are stacked at WR, they need significant special teams help, which is widely believed to be the reason he was drafted so high, when some experts had him missing the seven rounds completely.

But … who are we to doubt Ted Thompson? He has quite the knack for finding special talent.

Everyone had good things to say about the Packers picking quarterback Brett Hundley out of UCLA – they are sure that he will be able to take the backup spot from Scott Tolzien, even though the Packers have always been high on Tolzien.

Hundley could be the quarterback of the future for the Packers, or could be used as trade bait for future draft picks if the Packers are able to develop him into a future face for someone else’s franchise.

All in all, the Packers escaped the draft with positive grades and a high outlook on the season. If only a few of the rookies can join in with the red-shirts from 2014 in establishing a role on this team, the Green Bay Packers will be in very good shape in continuing what they started in ’14.
