Special teams

Kicker: Mason Crosby

Punter: Tim Masthay

Kick returner: Trevor Davis

Punt returner: Ty Montgomery

Long snapper: Rick Lovato

Mason Crosby is without question the starting kicker and he recently signed a four-year, $16.1 million contract to remain a Packer. In 2015, Crosby converted his 20th consecutive postseason field goal which is an NFL record. The Packers are very fortunate to not have to worry about their kicker, who is easily one of the best in the entire league.

The same can’t be said of punter Tim Masthay, who will likely need to compete with unrestricted free agent Peter Mortell in camp. Masthay’s chemistry with Crosby as a holder on field goal attempts is one of the reasons he stuck around last year, but Mortell was voted the 2015 Holder of the Year.

The Packers have an embarrassment of riches on kickoff and punt return duties. Ty Montgomery did a nice job before getting hurt a year ago, but fifth-round draft choice Trevor Davis fits the bill with his blazing speed. For now, we’ll pencil Davis in as the kickoff returner with Montgomery on punts.

There’s a possibility the Packers lean towards focusing Montgomery on offense and keep him away from special teams.
