Running backs

Starter: Ty Montgomery

Change of pace: Christine Michael

As it stands the Packers running back room is exactly how it was at the end of last year. Christine Michael was re-signed Wednesday, meaning the offense currently boasts a 1-2 punch of Ty Montgomery and Michael.

That’s a solid starting point, but I don’t expect the work to end here. Ted Thompson will have his pick of a whole host of talented runners in next month’s draft, and I’d be surprised if he doesn’t add another body to the room.

Michael adds depth at a position that needed it, and he can also compete for work at training camp.

Verdict: The Packers need to address the position either in free agency or the draft. Finding a lead back to pair with Montgomery is the primary target, with Michael offering backup and an occasional change-of-pace.

If it’s to be a veteran, adding a thumper like LeGarrette Blount would make sense.
