How else do the Packers improve their defense through the draft?

The Packers suffered injury after injury on defense last year. The only thing they can do about that is have better depth at each position. We already covered CBs, but that wasn’t the only area that struggled last season. The Packers could improve both the depth at safety and at linebacker.

With Micah Hyde heading to Buffalo, the Packers best bets at safety are Morgan Burnett, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and young Kentrell Brice. They do have two other safeties in Jermaine Whitehead and Marwin Evans, but we haven’t seen enough of them to know how effective they’ll be if they’re called upon.

For the linebackers, there are a lot of guys that either didn’t get much playing time last season or are still in the learning period of their careers, such as last year’s third-rounder Kyler Fackrell. The Packers need a linebacker who can help right away.

Outside of corner, safety and linebacker are the positions to focus on. It’s hard to worry about an offense too terribly much when you have Rodgers at the helm of it. He seems to always get the job done one way or another. Defense is the priority this week.
