Week 5: at Detroit Lions

I was somewhat disappointed by the Lions’ lack of activity in free agency. And by disappointed, I mean delighted. They are a good football team, and of course the draft is still on the way. But of the Packers’ three road games within the division, I like their chances the most at Ford Field. Green Bay wins at Detroit. Packers 27, Lions 24 (5-0)

Week 6: vs. San Francisco 49ers

Now this game should be a lot of fun. In one corner is the league’s best quarterback. In the other is a young star. Jimmy Garoppolo could be the man to make the Packers-49ers rivalry fun again. Despite that, the Packers will be expected to win. But every year there’s an upset. The Packers might be the stronger team, but I have San Francisco edging a close one to upset Green Bay. The 49ers are the first team to beat the Packers in 2018, sending them into the bye at 5-1. 49ers 27, Packers 23 (5-1)

Week 7: BYE

Week 8: at Los Angeles Rams

This starts a tough stretch for Green Bay, with three road games in four weeks. The Rams are going all in. They’ve made some big-name signings so far this offseason, adding Aqib Talib, Marcus Peters, Ndamukong Suh and Brandin Cooks. Easily one of the NFC’s heavyweights, it’s going to be difficult for the Packers to come away with victory on the road. I’m picking the Rams here. Rams 35, Packers 24 (5-2)
