6. Offensive line is excellent in pass protection

When Green Bay’s offensive is at full strength, it’s one of the best in the league in pass protection. That’s good news for a pass-happy offense like the Packers’.

The Packers’ offensive line is given a tough job. While Aaron Rodgers is the master of extending plays and shaking off tacklers, he has also benefited from some excellent protection in recent years. Two huge contributors have been tackles David Bakhtiari and Bryan Bulaga. Both Bakhtiari and Bulaga don’t need support and can slow down top edge rushers on their own.

Pro Football Focus recently ranked the top offensive lines ahead of the 2018 season. The Packers are at No. 9:

"“No chips or slides necessary, David Bakhtiari and Bryan Bulaga are as good as it gets in pass protection. Bakhtiari was the highest-graded left tackle in pass protection this past season (90.5) while Bulaga earned the highest pass protection grade of any right tackle his last healthy season in 2016 (89.3).”"

The biggest concern is Bulaga’s health. He suffered a torn ACL last year, and could miss the start of the season as a result. The Packers will be hoping that he can get back to his best once he’s healthy. The team has prepared for his potential absence by signing Byron Bell in free agency, who is the frontrunner to start at right tackle if Bulaga is out.

Even without Bulaga, the line is very good. Bakhtiari is one of the league’s best left tackles, and the team has talent at guard with Lane Taylor and Justin McCray.
