Packers: Kevin King in ‘Future Five’ of 2018 cornerback rankings
5. A.J. Bouye (Jacksonville Jaguars)
I was initially reluctant to agree with the Jaguars’ decision to sign Bouye back in 2017, but obviously I was proven wrong there. It’s crazy to believe that he isn’t even the best cornerback on the Jacksonville defense.
4. Casey Hayward (Los Angeles Chargers)
Not re-signing Hayward was one of the worst decisions that Ted Thompson made with the Green Bay Packers. If Hayward was on the Packers in 2016, there is a chance Aaron Rodgers would have had the help that he needed to get to Super Bowl LI.
3. Patrick Peterson (Arizona Cardinals)
Peterson is a great corner and also a great returner. I think the loss of Tyrann Mathieu will hurt the Cardinals’ secondary more than people expect, but Peterson will continue to be a generational talent no matter who is around him in Arizona.
2. Xavier Rhodes (Minnesota Vikings)
Rhodes is an exceptional talent. I don’t know if the Vikings defense survives their divisional-round game against New Orleans without him. The Vikings have the best cornerback-safety tandem in football with Rhodes and Harrison Smith.
1. Jalen Ramsey (Jacksonville Jaguars)
Ramsey has the potential to dominate the NFL for the next decade at a Deion Sanders or Darrelle Revis level. He is the best player on arguably the league’s best defense at only 23. Ramsey will be able to shut down half of the field if he continues to develop.
