Green Bay Packers, Josh Jones
GREEN BAY, WI – SEPTEMBER 24: Josh Jones /

3. Josh Jones

Kentrell Brice (ankle injury) did not travel with the team on Tuesday to Seattle and has been ruled out for this game. Josh Jones should get his first start and extended playing time this season.

Jones will be used in a variety of roles, from safety to nickel and dime linebacker. With his speed, he can also be a useful weapon against Russell Wilson.

Jones has shown a knack for the safety blitz and could also shadow Wilson to ensure he doesn’t get loose on scrambles.

The Packers are still awaiting a game like the one Jones had in 2017 against the Cincinnati Bengals. In that game, he had 12 tackles, three for a loss and two sacks. Since then we have seen more mistakes than plays from Jones.

Jones has all the tangibles (height, weight and speed) a team looks for in a player. He’s just been behind on learning the defensive scheme. If he can start to put it all together, the Packers defense will be in a much better place than a few weeks ago.

If Jones shows to be the mistake prone player from last year, the Packers will find themselves in big trouble Thursday night against the Seahawks.
