9. Josh Jones, Safety

One of the top stories to follow at training camp will be whether Josh Jones is part of the team’s plans for 2019 or whether he’s traded.

As Rob Demovsky of ESPN reported last month, despite missing OTAs with the hope of being traded, Jones returned for the three-day minicamp. He didn’t practice due to injury. So for now at least, a trade doesn’t seem to be likely. And if that’s the case, there’s a good chance he’ll be at training camp later this month.

But that doesn’t mean a trade still couldn’t happen at some point this summer.

If Jones isn’t traded, what will his role be in Mike Pettine’s defense? Jones played on less than half of the Packers’ defensive snaps in 2018, which was all the more surprising considering the problems the Packers had at the position throughout the season.

Could Jones earn more opportunities at safety? While possible, it’ll be even harder to get on the field after the Packers brought in Darnell Savage and Adrian Amos in the offseason. Perhaps Jones will get the chance to play more snaps at linebacker. Or it’s also possible the Packers will trade him before the start of the regular season.

Jones will be a player to watch.
