1. Packers defense forces three turnovers

One of the Packers’ strengths on defense this season has been the ability to take the ball away consistently. While Matthew Stafford generally protects the ball well — he’s only thrown two interceptions this season — the Lions have turned the ball over more than they’d like.

The Lions have four fumbles this season, including two in their most recent game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Packers’ defense has an impressive 11 takeaways through five games, including four fumble recoveries.

Matt LaFleur always talks about the importance of the football, and the Packers’ defense has been excellent at getting game-changing takeaways. Six different players have forced fumbles this season, four of which have been recovered. Also, six players have made interceptions. Cornerback Kevin King has two, and could’ve easily had two more if he’d held onto the football.

Winning the turnover battle is key either team to win. So far this season, the Packers have been one of the best teams in football at taking the ball away and protecting it. Their plus-seven turnover differential ties the league-lead with the New England Patriots.
