ARLINGTON, TEXAS – OCTOBER 06: Byron Jones #31 of the Dallas Cowboys tries to break up a pass to Marquez Valdes-Scantling #83 of the Green Bay Packers in the first quarter at AT&T Stadium on October 06, 2019 in Arlington, Texas. (Photo by Richard Rodriguez/Getty Images) /

5. Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Note: MVS has missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday due to ankle and knee injuries. In this article, we’ll assume he’ll be ready to go.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling was on every person’s players to watch list. A candidate to break out after showing promise in his rookie year. That has yet to happen.

He has made some plays on deep passes but has not shown to be the player everyone was bragging about coming into the season.

Like Allen Lazard, MVS has a golden opportunity. Unlike Lazard, MVS has already had a full season to show what he can do.

Patience should be practiced when dealing with young receivers, but the Packers need him to produce now. The two most experienced receivers might be down and Jimmy Graham has yet to pull through on the promise of the old Graham. Now is the time for him to show he is more than an occasional deep threat.
