1. Aaron Rodgers is officially in the MVP race

Christian Borman wrote a great article for Lombardi Ave last week about why Aaron Rodgers should be considered in the race for the 2019 MVP award. I don’t think there’s any doubt about it now.

It was a vintage performance from No. 12. Rodgers finished with a perfect passer rating, finding eight different receivers for 429 yards and five touchdowns. He also ran in a touchdown. It felt like we were watching the Rodgers of the 2014 season, except this time he didn’t have Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Davante Adams to throw to.

Green Bay’s offense made an inconsistent start to the season, but Rodgers has been close to his best for a few games now. Rodgers was on the money late in the win against the Lions last week, and he carried that form into Sunday’s game against the Raiders. And once Rodgers gets into that kind of rhythm at home, there isn’t much any team can do to stop it.

This should put an end to any questions about whether Aaron Rodgers can still play like Aaron Rodgers. Considering the injuries at wide receiver, this will go down as one of the finest performances of his career.

And seven weeks into the season, he deserves to be in the MVP race.
