Packers: Top five performers vs. Giants in Week 13 win
By Jesse Fry
5. Jamaal Williams
The Packers didn’t have the type of game they would have liked on the ground. The Giants did a good job bottling up Aaron Jones and limiting his impact on the game. Jones finished with only 18 yards and 1.6 yards per carry.
All was not lost though. Jamaal Williams picked up the slack, carrying the ball 10 times for 41 yards and adding four catches for 26 yards. The numbers are modest but it was enough to get the Packers through some tough weather and a bad game by Jones.
Williams’ style is perfect for days like Sunday. He is a hard runner and can run right through defenders in his way. Evident by his fourth quarter run when he lowered his head and went straight through Janoris Jenkins.
It was thought this was going to be a get-right game and for the most part, it was. The Packers have to be a little concerned with the way they ran the ball and that will have to be something they work on going forward. But a win is a win and they should not be taken for granted in the NFL.
Next up for the Packers is a Redskins team that has won two in a row since switching to their rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins. They will then face three straight division opponents. This is the time for the team to start firing on all cylinders and make a run. Sunday’s game against the Giants was a good start. Now they must keep it going and keep improving.
