Round 2 (62): Brandon Aiyuk, WR, Arizona State

Maybe it’s wishful thinking to believe Brandon Aiyuk could still be on the board at No. 62, but many draft analysts view him as a second-rounder. In another draft class maybe he’d be a first-round lock, but considering how many great receivers there are this year, a few of them will fall further than they should.

If the Arizona State wide receiver makes it to No. 62 overall, this should be an easy choice for Brian Gutekunst. Adding a wide receiver is a huge need in the draft after the Packers didn’t go after one of the top free agents. They’ll need to draft a receiver early and maybe add another later on.

Aiyuk would be a fantastic addition to Matt LaFleur’s offense. NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah believes Aiyuk is the 27th best prospect in the entire draft class. Jeremiah wrote that Aiyuk is a “tough, explosive playmaker”.

Picking up yards after the catch is one of Aiyuk’s biggest strengths. It’s an area the Packers need to improve offensively. According to Pro Football Focus, no receiver in this year’s class had more yards after contact than Aiyuk.

And with Davante Adams regularly drawing coverage from the opponent’s top cornerback, Aiyuk could make them pay and make an immediate impact in 2020.
