Special teams (3)

Mason Crosby, JK Scott, Hunter Bradley

I’m not expecting many changes to the three key positions on special teams.

Mason Crosby will enter his 14th season with the Packers after signing a new three-year contract extension earlier this offseason. And well deserved. Crosby is coming off of a career-year in 2019 when he converted 91.7 percent of his field goal attempts and 40 of his 41 extra-point tries.

Crosby continues to deliver as one of the most consistent kickers in football and in a league always short of reliable kickers, the Packers are lucky to have continuity here.

It’s been an up-and-down two seasons for punter JK Scott. At times he’s proven to be a “weapon” for the Packers, pinning opponents deep in their own territory. But consistency is the biggest issue and once he’s out of a rhythm, the results can be concerning. But he’s a young player and the hope is the consistency will come in time.

Hunter Bradley is my pick to remain the long snapper. That’s all the analysis I’ve got about that.

When it comes to kickoff and punt returns, that job will belong to Tyler Ervin who makes the team as a running back. Ervin saved the Packers from a historically bad and embarrassing season total in return yards when he arrived in December. He’s easily the Packers’ best option and can make a real impact on special teams.
