Packers: Ranking biggest positions of need entering 2021 NFL Draft
By Cody Young
Packers once again expected to take a WR at some point
Need #5: Wide receiver
The Packers drafting a big-time wide receiver is something that is widely speculated from a more national perspective. Can the Packers use another weapon for the offense? Absolutely. Is it as big as a need as some like to think? Absolutely not.
To be fair, the Packers do possess one of the best WRs in the entire NFL in Davante Adams. Adams had a phenomenal 2020 that really cemented him as one of the game’s best. Having him on the team is what makes this not as huge a need as some like to think it is.
That being said, if Green Bay drafts a WR in the first round, I and many others would be absolutely fine with it. While it’s not as deep as last year’s historic prospect class at the position, it’s still a great WR class.
The Packers had an outstanding offense in 2020 and adding another piece would not be a bad move at all. Something this offense lacks in my opinion is someone who can make plays with the ball in their hands.
I don’t think they need another big-bodied, possession-type WR, as they have plenty of those. If they can get a shifty WR with good speed, who can make plays, that would be a great addition.
Players to watch:
- Kadarius Toney
- Dyami Brown
- Amari Rodgers
