6. San Francisco 49ers

The Packers’ recent playoff record against the 49ers is an ugly one, and Kyle Shanahan’s team are built for success in January. They have a top-five defense and a powerful run game. If the Niners can get some momentum, they could be a surprise team in the playoffs.

Despite that, they haven’t been able to put it all together across the season and remain inconsistent, only winning more than two consecutive games once all season.

The 49ers are a team built to play with a lead. If the Packers make a fast start, they could run away with it. Before then, the 49ers need to secure their wild-card berth this weekend.

5. Philadelphia Eagles

Another team to watch closely in January will be the Eagles, who have clinched a playoff spot.

Philadelphia has won six of its past seven games, led by the NFL’s seventh-ranked defense and the number one rushing attack. Four of the Eagles’ losses have been one-score games. Had they won a couple of them, we’d all be talking about this team a lot more.

The Eagles’ ability to run the ball, especially with quarterback Jalen Hurts, would scare me if I’m Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry.

The Packers would be favorites, but this wouldn’t be an easy game.
