Packers can’t stop turning the ball over

The Packers’ defense limited the Patriots to 17 points. The other seven came on a rare gift from the right arm of Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers threw only his fourth career pick-six on Sunday against the Patriots.

Under Matt LaFleur, Green Bay’s offense has been excellent at protecting the football.

Between 2019 and 2021, the Packers gave the ball away an average of just 12.3 times. They never had more than 13 turnovers in a season.

Through four weeks in 2022, they have already turned it over seven times. Rodgers is up to three interceptions and only has had one turnover-free game this season.

It’s uncharacteristic of the Packers’ offense. Normally so efficient with the ball, we are seeing far too many sloppy mistakes this year.

Yes, there have been changes at wide receiver. The Packers are relying on young players. But many of their turnovers have been avoidable. The botched snap against Chicago. Some poor throws by Rodgers.

Uncharacteristic mistakes that are hurting Green Bay’s offense.

They are too good to continue making these errors. I’m confident the Packers will begin to play turnover-free football soon, but if they don’t protect the ball better quickly, it may cost them.

They got away with it again on Sunday.
