A week ago, Lucas Havrisik admitted he had been looking for part-time work before the Green Bay Packers called.

Now, the Packers' stand-in kicker just set a franchise record. His 61-yard field goal shattered the team's previous best of 58, which belonged to Mason Crosby. It's hard to believe that no kicker in Packers history had ever converted from 60-plus.

Green Bay needed a jolt after struggling to get out of first gear in the opening two frames. Hopefully Havrisik's 61-yard boot, and the three points it provides, will ignite a second-half rally.

Lucas Havrisik sets a Packers record with stunning 61-yard FG in Week 7

Few had much hope after Brandon McManus' injury forced the Packers to turn to Havrisik a week ago. But he has been perfect. Literally perfect.

Havrisik converted all four of his kicks against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6 (two field goals, two extra-point tries), including a 41-yarder. And he has made both efforts against the Cardinals, including the 61-yard stunner.

And it may prove to be a crucial one. The Packers had just given up a touchdown to Trey McBride, opening up a 13-3 deficit with only seven seconds left in the half. But a 22-yard connection from Jordan Love to Romeo Doubs gave them a shot, and Havrisik did the rest.

Havrisik made the Packers' best play of the half, and the sad part is that he may not even be on the team next week. Veteran McManus is dealing with a right quadricep injury but shouldn't miss much more time. The only positive here is that the Packers won't feel the need to rush McManus back — Havrisik is proving he can handle the kicking duties (and then some).

Even if his time in Green Bay is limited, Havrisik just made history, and it won't take long to find work elsewhere. Forget looking for a part-time job. Havrisik just became a Packers record-holder and delivered a perfect audition for the rest of the NFL.
