The Green Bay Packers righted their wrongs from the final week of last season by winning their Week 18 matchup to clinch a spot in the NFC Playoffs.
So the next question is just how far the Packers can go? Let's take a look at their latest odds to win Super Bowl 58 heading into the Wild Card Round.
Packers odds to win Super Bowl 58
The Packers enter the NFL postseason with the second-longest odds to win Super Bowl 58 at +10000. That means a $100 bet would win you an eye-popping $10,000 if they're able to achieve the feat. Only the Pittsburgh Steelers have longer odds at +13000.
If you translate +10000 to implied probability, oddsmakers are giving the Packers a slim 0.99% chance of lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Can the Packers win the Super Bowl?
I'm going to be honest, the odds are stacked against the Packers. They enter the playoffs as the No. 7 seed in the NFC and in the short history of there being seven playoff teams in each conference, the No. 7 seed has yet to win a game, let alone a Super Bowl, going 0-6 since the inclusion of the extra playoff spot.
If I were to put a positive twist on the Packers' chances, they were the No. 6 seed when they won the Super Bowl in the 2010-2011 season, so it should be a spot that fans are familiar with.
With all of that being said, the Packers have some bright spots offensively that can help them go on a run. Heading into the playoffs, they rank fifth in offensive EPA with only the 49ers, Cowboys, Bills, and Dolphins ranking higher in that stat. Unfortunately, their defense ranking 23rd in opponent EPA could hold them back.
For them to go on a playoff run, they need to start by upsetting the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round.
Packers vs. Cowboys odds
The Packers are the second biggest underdog in the Wild Card Round. Only the Steelers (+10) to the Bills are bigger underdogs this week.
Who will the Packers play in the Divisional Round?
Unlike other teams, the Packers' playoff path is extremely clear. If they beat the Cowboys, they'll face the San Francisco 49ers no matter the result of the other games. The 49ers, being the No. 1 seed, will automatically face the lowest advancing seed in the Divisional Round and with the Packers being the No. 7 seed, they're guaranteed to be San Francisco's opponents if they win.
The 49ers have been the Packers' postseason kryptonite in recent years. Two of their last three playoff losses have come to the 49ers including losing the NFC Championship against them in 2019.
