Patriots vs. Packers prediction and odds for NFL preseason Week 2

Jordan Love saw action last week, but it's the backups on both sides who will put up points in this one.

This week the New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers have been taking part in joint practices up in Green Bay in preparation of this Week 2 preseason matchup.

Bill Belichick and Matt LaFleur have certainly learned a lot about their team’s this week, but still have something to gather from the finale to New England’s week on the road.

We got a look at Jordan Love last week, but not Mac Jones, let’s get into the odds and see if there are any breadcrumbs about who might be taking snaps this week.

Patriots vs. Packers odds, spread and total

Patriots vs. Packers prediction and pick

As always, the Patriots are keeping things very close to the vest, so it’s hard to tell if Mac Jones will play much if at all in this one, but I wouldn’t necessarily count on it.

Despite that, it doesn’t change all that much about my outlook on this game.

Bailey Zappe is experienced and more than capable of running a competent preseason offense. So is Trace McSorley and Malik Cunningham is an intriguing enough runner to expect points, no matter who plays quarterback.

Cunningham ran for 34 yards and a touchdown in the Patriots 20-9 loss to Houston last week.

The same can be said of the Packers who put up 36 points against Cincinnati in preseason Week 1. Jordan Love was solid, going 7-for-10 for 46 yards and a touchdown and Sean Clifford was willing to try and make plays. He did throw two interceptions but turnovers aren't a bad thing if you’re betting the over.

Emmanuel Wilson is certainly an intriguing runner for Green Bay after going for 111 yards and two touchdowns on six carries last week.

The rookie running back from Fort Valley State only ran a 4.62 40-yard dash, but he has a lot more game speed than that would indicate.

He’s somebody exciting to keep an eye on and with both of these teams attempting to load up on young playmakers to ease quarterback transitions over the past few seasons, they have depth at the skill positions which will help scoring.

I’ll take the over in this one.
