Headed to Green Bay tomorrow for the Packers vs. Bucs game?

Well, Green Bay Packers officials are reminding all about some very important information that everyone should heed as they head to, get to, and enjoy the game.

The following is a press release the Packers distributed yesterday. You may want to take a quick gander:

The Green Bay Packers have reminded gold package season-ticket holders to plan ahead for enhanced screening that will take place at Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and allow extra time for entry into the stadium.

Game attendees traveling to Green Bay on U.S. Highway 41 also should note that construction zones will require increased drive time. Additional information on highway construction and specific affected areas is available online at http://us41wisconsin.gov.

Information released by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is as follows:

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is reminding motorists heading to Lambeau Field on Sunday, November 20 for the Green Bay Packers /Tampa Bay Buccaneers football game that the road construction season continues on most major roads in Northeast Wisconsin. While most projects will stop and two lanes of traffic will be open, drivers might still encounter road conditions in the work zones that could cause backups.

WisDOT also wants to alert motorists to expect heavy congestion along the US 41 corridor in Brown County due to deer hunter and holiday shopping traffic coinciding with game-time traffic in the work zone area, especially following the conclusion of the game later on Sunday afternoon.

WisDOT strongly recommends motorists allow themselves additional time to reach their destinations.

Here is a list of the major roads in northeast Wisconsin most Packers fans will be traveling and the road conditions they should anticipate:

US 41

·         Brown County – drivers will encounter 11-foot travel lanes and reduced shoulders in multiple locations along a 10-mile segment of highway. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph from just south of Oneida Street to Velp Avenue.

·         Winnebago County – certain segments of 16 miles of highway, from WIS 26 to Breezewood Lane, have restricted shoulders and 11-foot travel lanes, especially in the vicinity of the US 45 interchange area.

Additionally, with Sunday’s pregame entertainment featuring a performance by the University of Wisconsin Marching Band, fans have another incentive to get to Lambeau Field and in their seats early. The band also will perform at halftime and in its famous “Fifth Quarter.”

With respect to enhanced screening, the Packers and Green Bay Police Department will continue to use hand-held metal-detecting wands to conduct the process.

Stadium gates open two hours prior to kickoff (10 a.m. this Sunday). To expedite the screening process, fans are encouraged to:
·         Enter the stadium earlier than they have in the past,
·         Use the stadium gate indicated on their ticket,
·         Bring no or a minimal amount of items into the stadium (small purses, etc.) to minimize wait time, and
·         Move items such as a cell phone or keys from your pocket to your hand before you are screened.

Some of the prohibited items that often are brought to stadium gates, only to get returned to cars or discarded altogether, include large bags, umbrellas, backpacks and stadium seats with armrests. Fans are reminded not to bring such items to the gates.

Weapons remain prohibited under Wisconsin’s concealed carry law: In maintaining its no weapons policy, the Packers continue to prohibit carrying firearms or other weapons inside Lambeau Field. Additionally, fans will not be permitted to carry firearms or other weapons in the parking lot. People with proper permits may leave firearms locked in their vehicle. Weapons cannot be carried on a person.

The national anthem will be performed by American Idol’s 2009 winner, Kris Allen.

Upon entering the stadium fans will receive a complimentary Swirl Flag, courtesy of Ticketmaster.

With hunting season kicking off in Wisconsin this weekend, hunter’s orange clothing is expected in the stands Sunday. Fans interested in donning the colors can help the Packers “hunt down hunger” by purchasing orange and camouflage hats in the Packers Pro Shop, with $5 from each purchase donated to Wisconsin hunger relief efforts.
