The Green Bay Packers entertained the Washington Redskins at rainy Lambeau Field today in a game that couldn’t have gone better for the home team.

After starting with a bang when Eddie Lacy was speared in the head, the Packers still moved to a first and goal on the first drive of the game before Randall Cobb’s apparent touchdown was called back when he stepped out of bounds and Rodgers was hit by a couple of sacks. Mason Crosby opened the scoring by hitting an easy field goal to give Green Bay a 3-0 lead.

However, the Packers and Redskins’ defense not came to play in the early going. On their second possession,  Rodgers was sacked twice in a row, but RG3 didn’t have much better luck against the Packers as the home team held the Skins scoreless throughout the first half.

Aaron Rodgers began to take over late in the first quarter and through the second. He hit Randall Cobb for a touchdown over the middle and then hit Jordy Nelson – twice actually after the first was called back on a penalty – for a touchdown to give Green Bay a 17-0 lead.

And it wasn’t before you could say “Jermichael Finley” that Aaron Rodgers threw the tight end for his third TD pass of the afternoon to him to give the Packers a 24-0 lead with seven minutes left in the first half.

The Packers defense continue its stellar play, highlighted by a tip ball interception by defensive end-turned-linebacker Mike Neal just before Rodgers again led the Packers down the field as the first half clock was winding down.

However, when Rodgers hit James Jones on the left sideline, the wide receiver attempted to stretch the ball over the goal line, lost control and then had it hit the end zone pylon for a touchback. So instead of the Packers going into the locker room at 31-0, it is 24-0.

Still, one can’t complain. With some blips in pass protection, overall it was as good as it gets.
