Darqueze Dennard – Cornerback, Michigan State, 5-11, 197 (4.52)
Considering other needs on the team, I would be a little surprised if the Packers take a cornerback in the first round, but they may lose Sam Shields to free agency, Tramon Williams will turn 31, and Casey Hayward could have reocurring hamstring issues during his career.
It never hurts to have another talented defensive back on your roster. Dennard is a physical corner that has played a lot of press man at Michigan State. He may be the closest thing to a shutdown corner there is in this year’s draft.
The Packers could use his cover skills and the tenacity he brings to the position.
