Attaochu is one of the most exciting prospects in this year’s draft. Here’s a guy that just gets after it every time he steps on the field. There are a lot of really talented DE/OLB edge rushers in this draft class, and this depth could cause a guy like Attaochu to fall to the Packers in the second or third round.
Attaochu primarily played defensive end for the Yellow Jackets, but he also has experience rushing in a two-point stance as an outside linebacker. He recorded 12.5 sacks in 2013 and 10 sacks in 2012. He’s one of the more dynamic pass rushers that will be available in May, and he could add a lot to a defense like Green Bay’s.
Because of his size, Attaochu does project as a 3-4 outside linebacker at the next level, but there are still concerns about his ability to drop back in coverage and hold the edge against the run. These may be things Attaochu will have to learn to master in his first few years in the NFL.
But one thing is certain about his game, he knows how to get after the quarterback, and you can never have enough pass rushers on your team.
