Green Bay Packers draft: Third round players to watch at the NFL Scouting Combine

Hampton’s draft stock is all over the map. Some love him in the second. I don’t have him quite that high. However, I do think he is a great athlete. It has been noted by many scouts that this year’s cornerback class is deep, with talented prospects to be had in later rounds. Hampton is someone Green Bay could add to bolster their secondary.
Combine Watch: Notice that I refer to Hampton as a “defensive back.” He was an outstanding corner for the Gamecocks. However, he is actually built wider than most corner prospects. In addition, most don’t expect Hampton to blaze his 40 time. He could be in the 4.5+ range. Not a slow time by any means, but not an elite time for a cornerback. Teams just might start thinking about putting his play making ability and good instincts deep in the secondary at a safety spot. Sound like something the Packers could use?
