MM: We have periods throughout practice with emphasis. Team takeaway is a fundamental. Everyone needs to know how to handle football.

MM on CBA limitations: I think we're all doing a better job of understanding what CBA tempo is. You always have growing pains.
— Brian Carriveau (@BrianCarriveau) May 29, 2014
MM on defense: want lower volume of scheme, it's where needs to be now, cut 10 to 15 percent. Make sure have more people available. ...

MM: Training camp will answer if we have more competition than past years. It's talented 89-man roster. As coach, that's all you can ask for
— Mike Vandermause (@MikeVandermause) May 29, 2014
MM on having versatile player on D: The more a player can do is obviously the value he brings to your team and enhances creativity of coach.
— Rob Demovsky (@RobDemovsky) May 29, 2014
MM: I don't have medical updates on Finley. I did not see him when he was in town this week. Haven't had talks with medical staff.
— Mike Vandermause (@MikeVandermause) May 29, 2014
MM on Finley: I know he was in town, I did not personally see him. I have not had any conversations with our medical staff about him.
— Brian Carriveau (@BrianCarriveau) May 29, 2014
MM on Tretter: doing really good job, been here every day since season ended february all the way thru. Shown in way he's jumped in there.

MM on J.C. Tretter: So far so good. I've been impressed with what I've seen.
— Brian Carriveau (@BrianCarriveau) May 29, 2014
MM on Lyerla: like all our young guys, trying to figure it out. Hasn't played, he feels like he has a little rust.
— Pete Dougherty (@PeteDougherty) May 29, 2014
MM on Colt Lyerla: Obviously Colt hasn't played. Talking to him, he feels like he has some rust to knock off.
— Brian Carriveau (@BrianCarriveau) May 29, 2014
MM: Lot of conversation prior to signing Lyerla. I'm personally excited about having Colt here. Everybody excited about helping young man.
— Mike Vandermause (@MikeVandermause) May 29, 2014
... young man who's been through what he's been thru. We're excited to impact this young man's life. everything else take care of self
— Pete Dougherty (@PeteDougherty) May 29, 2014
MM: Peppers moves like a young man. Impressive person from all angles. Very professional in his approach. Takes care of himself.
— Mike Vandermause (@MikeVandermause) May 29, 2014
McCarthy on Julius Peppers: "Looks very natural at the outside linebacker position." #Packers
— Paul (@Paulimig) May 29, 2014
MM on OLB position: look at design of 3-4, averaged 24 percent of D snaps in 3-4 last 5 yrs, flexibility that body type gives important.
— Pete Dougherty (@PeteDougherty) May 29, 2014
MM on Hyde role: he definitely can be a 4 down player, very good football player, whether nickel or other positions. natural corner ....
