Hyde has been doing so well at safety that at least one source I read (Vic Ketchman on Packers.com) specifically noted how difficult it would be for someone to take that spot from him now. I tend to believe him; he is the one who was on top of the idea of Hyde at safety in the first place waaaaaaay back in about March. Burnett did have a disappointing season last year because of somewhat middling performance and injuries, but he has produced in the past and the coaching staff has remained adamant that he can excel with stronger help playing next to him.
Clinton-Dix has first-round pedigree and would almost surely be starting if not for Hyde commandeering the spot he was expected to walk into.
He and Banjo have been working as the second-team safeties during camp. Do not sleep on Richardson either; the coaches have loved him and he made some decent plays when he returned from a neck injury last year. They see a ton of potential in him, something he showed a glimpse of with a great interception of Rodgers during camp drills.
With five players ahead of them, unless Green Bay wants to roll out a ton of three-safety looks there seems to be little chance of Miller or Clay making the team.
