Defense
The Packers defense looks like one that, based on the players that make it up, would be able to make plays and be start-able in certain matchups. With good pass-rush options like Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers and a strong secondary filled with potential playmakers in Sam Shields/Tramon Williams/Casey Hayward/Micah Hyde/Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, there is plenty of reason to be looking in this defense’s direction during certain weeks.
The Jets look to be exactly the matchup for them to showcase those abilities; they have a one-dimensional offense to this point and a mistake-prone QB in Geno Smith. Before you start salivating, just remember that their one dimension is the run-game, which Green Bay has consistently had trouble stopping on other teams. An attack headed by Chris Johnson and Chris Ivory could cause many headaches if they are allowed to run rampant.
After an abysmal effort against Seattle, expect there to be a bounce-back on this side of the ball as well. It won’t be as drastic as the expected one on offense, but it should be enough to help push the Jets into not running the ball all game and letting Geno Smith toss the ball around, resulting in a few turnovers and a good day for owners of this defense.
Verdict: Start, unless you own an every-week option
Prediction: ~250 yards allowed, 10 points allowed, 3 turnovers forced (2 INTs, 1 Fum. Rec.)
