Don’t expect any Green Bay Packers inducted into PFHOF this year

If you’re disappointed that Minnesota Vikings offensive lineman Mick Tingelhoff was selected as the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s senior pick for induction in the Class of 2015, don’t be surprised that there are no other Packers selected this year.

We know it won’t be Jerry Kramer.

Only two former Packers players and two coaches have been declared a modern-era nominee for this year’s class – LeRoy Butler, Sterling Sharpe, Kevin Greene and Mike Holmgren.

It’s most likely that Packers fans will have to await Brett Favre‘s induction into the hall.

It’s most likely that Packers fans will have to await Brett Favre’s induction into the hall, but I would think that Butler, Sharpe and Holmgren are all credible nominees.

Many feel that Sharpe, had he not been forced to retire because of injury, would be a lock for induction, as he was the top receiver across the league in the early to mid-1990s.

Can you imagine what Sharpe’s and Brett Favre’s numbers would have been had Sharpe and Favre been together for a decade? How many Super Bowls would the Packers have won?

Those are what-if questions to which we will never know the answers.

As for Butler, Greene and Holmgren … all three are deserving.

In fact, Greene was a finalist last year, but didn’t make the final cut.

Greene left the Packers’ coaching staff at the end of the 2013 season to spend more time with his family. It would be great to once again see Greene in the running, but wouldn’t it be great to see any of these players and coaches recognized? However, it doesn’t look like this is the year.

Look at the full list below. The chances that these Packers players and coaches make the cut this year are doubtful, at best.

So, don’t expect to see any Packers headed to the Hall this year.
