Shields got his money and his extension this offseason but he’s not letting it find him complacent.

He was matched up with Alshon Jeffery most of the afternoon and (despite being 7 inches shorter) was a huge disruption.

He fought for the ball, he was physical, he was concentrated. He showed a lot of positives that tell me that he can be a viable matchup for one-on-ones with top receivers, despite their size difference.

He’s playing good football right now, and he makes that secondary unit better by being involved.

This three-game division stint comes to a close Thursday night against the surging Teddy Bridgewater-led Minnesota Vikings and if the silver linings presented here are present again … the outcome should be eerily similar.
