RBs – Eddie Lacy, James Starks

The run game as a whole has still been a problem, but there is hope for a good day from these guys.

By these guys, I’m almost entirely referring to Lacy; Starks hasn’t been producing. That has mostly been through a lack of usage, which is a little surprising with all of the claims by the coaches that they wanted to use Lacy/Starks/DuJuan Harris about equally. In actuality it has been almost all Lacy and will probably continue as such, especially with his production in the passing game showing improvement.

That receiving improvement will most likely result in more usage as a receiver in screens and such, which will help supplant the fact that his running totals haven’t been great. That’ll be nice for fantasy owners, who still haven’t really gotten a strong return on investment for a player that was drafted in the upper half of the first round fantasy drafts.

That passing element may have to give Lacy a similar boost as last week, with the Sitton/Lang injuries factoring highly into the equation. Chicago isn’t a great run defense by any means, but New Orleans isn’t exactly a brick wall either. With Lane Taylor filling in for Lang, there was a noticeable weakness that New Orleans exploited constantly. that included a key 4th down stop were Lane was basically thrown backwards right away and the Saints defense destroyed the opportunity quickly.

So there is a chance things could go poorly again. I think with more use of Lacy as a receiver leaking out of the backfield though, Green Bay can circumvent some of those issues somewhat and still allow Lacy to have a productive day in both reality and fantasy.

Prediction: 70 yards rushing, 30 yards receiving, TD (Lacy); 10 yards rushing (Starks)
Verdict: Start (Lacy); Do Not Start (Starks)
