TEs – Andrew Quarless, Richard Rodgers, Brandon Bostick

There were signs of life from this spot before the bye, so it shouldn’t be a huge surprise that this position group stepped up a bit more in this game. What should be a surprise is who stepped up.

It turns out, I picked the wrong TE to back for a jump in production somehow. All the signs pointed to it being Richard Rodgers, but who would have predicted BOTH of the other guys would have a more relevant impact?

Brandon Bostick arose out of nowhere to finally doing something this season, with his early TD catch starting the scoring off. Quarless then managed to grab TD pass number two from Rodgers’ 6-TD night. Rodgers only managed to get two passes for 6 yards.

Suffice to say, this position is wholly unpredictable, and you should stay away from it if you can. But it is worth keeping an eye on, especially if the coaches decide to continue using the multiple tight end sets more often for the remainder of the season. If they do, we may finally see someone crawl out of this quagmire and become a consistent option down the stretch.

Who will it be? No idea whatsoever. Based on snaps, Rodgers seems most likely. Based on past production, it’d be Quarless. Based on this week, it could be Bostick. There’s no way to know.

My guess for this week is that one of these three will grab some unexpected red-zone TD. If I had to put money on it … I wouldn’t. If I REALLY had to to put money down …

I still wouldn’t.

Fine … just for fun, I’ll say Rodgers gets it.

Prediction: 20 yards, TD (Rodgers); 20 yards (Quarless); 10 yards (Bostick)
Verdict: Emergency Option (Rodgers); Do Not Start (Quarless/Bostick)
