Aaron Rodgers said today that his thirtieth year on planet Earth was a pretty good one for him … and you possibly can’t doubt him.

He was awarded more money in a single contract than you and I and everyone else reading this will ever earn in many lifetimes; he has hooked up with Olivia Munn, one of the greatest Hollywood catches anyone could hope for; and he has his team, the Green Bay Packers, playing better than they have in some time.

Are they headed to the Super Bowl?

It’s too early to tell, Rodgers said, but he did say that this was one of the most mature teams he’s played for in his time in Green Bay.

That’s quite a statement, given the number of rookies who are making an impact on this team.

Fresh off a huge win over the previously-named top team in most power rankings last week, Rodgers celebrates his thirty-first birthday today, probably feeling pretty good about where he is in life.

About the only thing he has yet to achieve is a second Super Bowl title – a distinction that would put in the same category as Bart Starr.

Not bad for a guy who was expected to be the number one pick in the 2005 NFL Draft and had to wait until the Packers snatched him up at number 24; not bad for a guy who rode the bench behind to-be Hall-of-Famer Brett Favre; not bad for a guy who was booed when he took over for Favre in 2008; and not bad for a guy who still has trouble gaining the respect of some mainstream media types who feel Rodgers doesn’t have what it takes to win the big games.

Well, if one Super Bowl title, the best QB rating in history, an incredible touchdown-to-interception ratio that blows everyone out of the water isn’t enough to convince folks that he’s the best around – especially after beating Tom Brady – then nothing will.

So, without further ado, we wish Aaron Rodgers a happy birthday and hope he has an even better thirty-first year than he had when he was 30
