QB – Aaron Rodgers
Last Week: 24/38, 368 passing yards, 2 TDs, 22 rush yards; 24.92 fantasy points
No matter who Aaron Rodgers plays at this point, it seems to be a given that he will do well. Even against a defense that was set up to take away his favorite options in the passing game, it made no difference; he still produced just fine.
If not for the aforementioned struggles once the offense reached the red-zone (0-4 on those drives), his statistics would look even greater. Against a Falcons team that is much weaker all around, finishing drives should not be an issue this week.
Based on the DVOA rankings run by Football Outsiders, the Falcons currently have the worst overall defense, including 31st against the pass (by contrast, New England is 13th overall and 16th against the pass).
What could end up having more of an impact on a potentially great day by Rodgers has more to do with his own team. To go along with a 31st-ranked DVOA pass defense, Atlanta also sports the 31st-ranked DVOA run defense. Because of that, I think we’ll see plenty of Eddie Lacy on the day.
More Lacy means less is needed from Rodgers, but I do still think he’ll have a pretty strong game regardless. Rodgers at home versus marginal teams has been extremely impressive all season, and should continue to be while running up another high score in the confines of Lambeau.
Prediction: 375 passing yards, 15 rushing yards, 3 TDs (passing); 28.50 Fantasy Points
Verdict: Must-Start
