Defense
Last Week: 21 Points Allowed, 1 Sack; 1.00 fantasy point
In reality, the Green Bay defense put up one of its more impressive victories on the year in holding the Patriots’ top-scoring offense to only 21 points and multiple non-scoring drives. In terms of fantasy however, it was just as expected: a subpar showing.
While the defense did plenty to pressure Tom Brady and force him into early throws, they only ended up with one sack and no turnovers off of him. That resulted in a lackluster day for fantasy owners, but it was to be expected.
This week could prove to be a bit of a hassle as well, but there is a good opportunity for a turnaround on the fantasy side. While Atlanta has players like Matt Ryan and Julio Jones, they’ve been a heavily injured group. That has hit hardest on their offensive line, where they’ve been through handful after handful of replacement players over the course of the season.
I’m expecting Ryan and Jones to manage somewhere around their usual strong production, but I think some of that will be garbage-time scoring. That line is terribly shoddy at best, at Capers’ crew should put pressure on that offense all game long.
I may be overestimating the impact of Ryan/Jones/garbage-time here with the scoreline I expect; this could be ugly for them. Lucy for Packers fans the uglier it gets for them, the better it is for Green Bay; that’s true in both in fantasy AND reality.
Prediction: 20 Points Allowed, 4 Sacks, 2 Forced Turnovers (1 INT, 1 Fumble); 9.00 fantasy points
Verdict: Startable
