Cornerback may have become a position of need for the Packers. Davon House has departed for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and there is a chance that Tramon Williams will be heading for the exit door, too.

With Sam Shields on one side, Casey Hayward would likely make the jump up to start alongside him. The Packers could find good value in Wake Forest’s Kevin Johnson in the third-round.

As it happens, NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein compares Johnson to Shields. He believes Johnson has improved his game over the past couple of seasons and has the potential to play at a high level:

"“Johnson is a three-year starting cornerback who showed great improvement in man coverage from 2013 to 2014. While he lacks desired weight at the position, his cover skills, athleticism and competitiveness give him a shot to come in and start right away. Johnson can play gunner on special teams.”"

The concern with Johnson is over his light frame (6-0, 188 pounds). Despite that, he has a lot of toughness and is a solid tackler.

With the Packers potentially losing two playmakers at corner (and even if they retain Tramon Williams), Johnson could be an excellent pickup in the third-round and would be able to compete with Hayward for a starting role.
