Powerful Runner

Walter Cherepinsky of WalterFootball.com ranks Cobb eleventh among running backs:

"“Cobb had a good week at the Senior Bowl and helped himself. He showed more burst than previously thought, and that had been the biggest question mark about his game. However, Cobb didn’t participate in the field work at the Combine and had a disappointing total in the bench press (17 reps). Cobb was one of the most productive runners in the nation in 2014. He is a physical runner who can handle a big work load. Cobb fights for yards after contact and plays really hard. If he were faster, he could be a second-day prospect. Cobb averaged 5.2 yards per carry in 2014 for 1,626 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also had 16 receptions for 162 yards.”"

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com compares Cobb to Steven Ridley, adding that he is a ‘powerful, compact runner with a low center of gravity’. The 5-11, 229-pounder is tough to tackle, especially in enemy territory: Zierlein wrote that ‘when he smells the end zone, he wants to eat’. Zierlein adds:

"“Cobb’s YouTube highlights might bore you, but he’s custom-made for physical running teams. He has one-cut traits and can play in a gap scheme. Adjusting his style to the speed of the NFL game might take some time, but Cobb’s downhill, run-finishing style fits what running games are becoming again and he has a shot to be more than just a complementary back.”"
