8. Cecil Isbell

Cecil Isbell came to the Packers for the 1938 season after being drafted in the first round. While in Green Bay, Isbell starred along side Arnie Herber as both would flip flop between quarterback and running back. Cecil was a very accurate passer as he threw more touchdowns than interceptions. Although the Packers came up short against the New York Giants in 1938, the team was able to win Isbell’s only championship with the team in 1939.

Isbell acheived numerous accolades throughout his playing career in Green Bay. He was the NFL leader in passing yards and touchdowns in the 1941 and 1942. He was a member of the 1930’s all decade team and was inducted to the Packers Hall of Fame in 1972. Isbell ranks 10th in all time Packers history in yards with 5,945 and is 7th on the all time list in touchdowns with 61.
