Clay Matthews returned to practice today on what head coach Mike McCarthy calls, a “trial basis”.
"“Clay Matthews is on a trial-and-error, trial return,” McCarthy said.”We’ll see how his workout goes today.”"
Matthews missed practice last Monday and has been off the field since. He was not in gear for family night on Saturday night, and did not say whether or not we may see him in preseason action on Thursday night.
"“You know what, any opportunity to be out there, especially in regards to preseason games, I think is very important,” Matthews said. “But there’s always other factors that go along with that.”"
Matthews has been practicing at inside linebacker where he was moved last season after playing most of his career at outside linebacker. We will continue to monitor his progress as training camp progresses and note the depth situation as Green Bay does not have a lot of experience to replace him if need be.
