The New England Patriots have released former Packers backup Quarterback Matt Flynn from the team Monday after not being able to get on the field once during all of training camp. Flynn has been battling a hamstring issue and with the Patriots facing the Packers in the preseason on Thursday, they were running out of time. Patriot head coach Bill Belichick noted the following in meeting with the press today.

"“There’s definitely something to that. We don’t have forever here; the train is moving.”"

With the deflategate scandal still in the air for starting quarterback Tom Brady, the Patriots needed a reliable third option to back up Jimmy Garoppolo this season.
