Second half jitters
And for a while, it seemed like the doors were wide open as the Seahawks scored touchdowns on their first two second half possessions, giving Seattle a 17-13 lead.
The Seahawks had all of the momentum. They had just sacked Rodgers and held the Packers to a three and out.
Then James Starks came to life just when the Packers and fans needed it the most. He went off right tackle and gained 35 yards before he was pushed out of bounds.
Rodgers knew the game was on the line as he scrambled and ran up the middle for nine yards, diving head first for a first down.
The drive stalled but a Crosby 44-yard field goal narrowed the gap to one point, 17-16.
The Packers got the ball back to start the fourth quarter. I had noticed that Davante Adams was really struggling running his routes. Randall Cobb caught passes for 18, 19 and 2 yards, all going for first downs.
Then Ty Montgomery took over for Adams, catching a short pass then turned into a human pinball bouncing off Seahawks players for a 17-yard gain.
Finally, Rodges extending yet another play with his legs, found Richard Rodgers open for a TD. The Rodgers-to-Rodgers connection clicked again on the very next play as Richard Rodgers also scored on the two-point conversion, giving the Packers a 24-17 lead.
At this time I was thinking. Last team with the ball scores and wins the game.
The Packers got the ball back after a turnover (Jayrone Elliott interception) and went to work running off the clock with several James Starks runs and culminating the scoring with yet another Mason Crosby field goal.
Final score: Packers 27 – Seahawks 17.
